"Abalona" - Goddess of the Pacific Ocean

Abalona is a sea deity born of sand and salt, goddess of the Pacific Ocean for Polynesians. Nestled in an iridescent abalone shell, she embodies protection, rebirth and the gentleness of the deep.

In this delicate composition, the female body of this goddess curls up in a fetal position, enveloped by the holographic and pearly reflections of the abalone, set against a background of sand with golden reflections, like a return to the origin, to the intimacy of the oceans.

This work is part of the Ocean Goddess collection, a series of illustrations inspired by marine myths, wild nature and the deep connection between woman and the ocean.

The original illustration created by Maximilie Hareng, was made with charcoal and colored pencil, on a background of satin and glittery watercolor, mixed with seawater taken from the Plage des Blancs Sablons, in Le Conquet (Brittany). Each element carries within it the trace of a real place, an intimate emotion and the breath of the shore.
